SPECIAL EVENTS

TRACTOR TREK TRAVELLERS

Thank you everyone that came along on our 2011 treks and a special thank you to those who organised events and for the wonderful catering delivered at each event. Certainly the days have all been well set up and it’s a shame that we don’t seem to attract all that many tractors at times. Yet at Wentworth there were 212 looking at nothing but salt bush yet we have excellent scenery around here in Central Victoria. There may be a little change in direction of Treks as well with some as the stopping off for lunch at a Hotel seemed popular. Then the BBQ’s out in the bush work just as well. Plus looking at collections on the way around or even tractors etc for sale seemed to be popular. Anyway we will see what 2012 brings.

Looking forward. A Merry Christmas to all and your families and a wish that you keep safe and well.

Some information to pop into your diary but as always subject to confirmation as we get closer to events. I will send more information early in 2012.

What make is a good tractor for use on a Trek? Grey Fergy’s seem to be popular as they are light to move around, parts are easy to obtain and they are cheap to run. Best thing though is that they seem to be able to come down low in the revs in top gear and pull off again without changing gear. Then if you have to change the box isn’t too bad to get along with. Some tractors with the higher road gear die at the sight of a hill and that makes it a little more challenging. Others have gate gear shifts and that also presents challenges. Are 35 Fergy’s as good as the TEA 20’s? Happy to have a comparison discussion of all makes one day.
